Here are some of the names you’ll see speaking at this month’s event.
Maria Karaivanova, Madrona Venture Group
Maria is an early-stage investor backing entrepreneurs looking to disrupt industries and make a difference. Her focus areas include: Cloud, Intelligent Applications, Security, ML/AI and Voice.
As an investment professional at Madrona Ventures, she has led all aspects of a deal from investment thesis creation and sourcing to exit and integration.
Prior to Madrona, she was the head of strategic partnerships and business development at Cloudflare. As one of the first 25 employees at Cloudflare, she focused on building the core business functions from enterprise sales to partnerships, from API product and engineering for integrations to training and support. She joined the executive team and created the business development organization building partnerships with Google, Microsoft, IBM and over 5,000 distribution partners. During her time at Cloudflare we scaled from 25 to 500+ employees and annual revenue from $0M to >$100M. They secured $182M of funding, got recognized as the Most Innovative Networking & Internet Technology Company for two-years running by the Wall Street Journal, and processed 10% of the world’s web requests through its network.
Before Cloudflare, she worked at Intel Capital investing in consumer internet and enterprise software. She also spent four years at Boeing in business development, business strategy and intellectual property management roles supporting military helicopters (Chinook, Apache) and fighter jets programs (F-18, F-15). She received an MBA from Harvard Business School and a BS in Finance from Saint Louis University.
Jody Denner,Sr. Cybersecurity Consultant/Advisor, Perspecta
Jody has utilized more than 19 years of professional information technology experience and over 12 years of focus in the Cybersecurity technology niche to help organizations to improve their operations in areas of computer network defense, incident response, digital forensics, and other advanced information assurance and cybersecurity functions. He has extensive experience consulting for the federal, state and local government, as well as for educational institutes.
His areas of technical and operational expertise include: Information Security Analysis, Information Assurance, Cyber Security, Digital Forensics, LAN Management, Business Operations Support, Technical Support, and Customer Service for Public and Private Sector Clients.
He combines his experience as a U.S. Navy veteran with his professional and technical skills to provide outstanding cybersecurity customer delivery.
Mike Rock, CISO, Vernovis
Mike has over 24 years in the Tech and Cyber industry with Fortune 500 Enterprise and SMB Consulting experience. His executive presence and proven ability to translate security risks into business language for an optimal business partnership during risk-based decision making.
As the Cybersecurity practice leader, Mike provides straight talk and seasoned Cybersecurity advice to Vernovis customers in business terms. He designs Cybersecurity programs based on an assessment process (risk or compliance gap or both) that is customized to each customer’s priorities. Once in place, this road map is delivered through a combination of customer resources, Vernovis consultants, and additional third parties where needed. Once implemented, Mike then provides fractional CISO (aka: vCISO, part-time CISO) service model, giving customers direct access to Mike’s expertise to maintain your company’s security program including governance, policy oversight, executive reporting and awareness training.
Bob Sydow, Americas Cyber Leader, Ernst & Young
Bob is a principal at Ernst & Young, LLP and EY’s Americas Cybersecurity Leader. He has more than 30 years of experience in the cybersecurity sector and have helped build EY’s Cyber and Technology practices. Throughout his career, he has worked with Fortune 500 companies on all aspects of information security strategy transformation, cyber risk management, data protection and privacy, identity and access management, cyber threat management and cyber analytics. His current responsibilities include management of the EY’s cybersecurity practice, which provides assessment and security transformation services across all sectors in the Americas. EY’s cyber security practice currently spans across 150 countries with over 7,000 practitioners globally.
Chris Hjelm, Principal, Connetic Ventures
Chris leverages his analytics, finance, and consulting background to strategically invest in financial markets, established companies and emerging ideas. He is passionate about my community and devote his resources to helping Cincinnati and Chicago businesses both large and small succeed.

Rob Howell, Chief Privacy Officer, Fifth Third Bank
Rob Howell is the Chief Privacy Officer at Fifth Third Bank. Based in Cincinnati, Rob has over 15 years of experience in privacy and information security. His professional experience has ranged from retail, small businesses, healthcare, and finance.
In his current role at Fifth Third Bank, he leads the Privacy Office and oversees multiple enterprise-wide functions on how customer information is obtained, used, shared, and retained in accordance with state, federal, and international law. Additionally, the Privacy Office is responsible for assessing risk; evaluating the Bancorp’s control environment; and the development and enforcement of policies, procedures, and guidelines that meet regulatory requirements with privacy regulations and data protection laws.
Rob is also a Certified Information Systems Security Professional and works with industry leaders in the advancement of privacy and information security.
