GCVA Gets New Leaderships – General Nano Goes to Space: This Week in #StartupCincy

This week in #StartupCincy the GCVA saw a change in leadership. Previous President Vance VanDrake handed the reigns over to Kevin Mackey, Cintrifuse’s Startup advocate. Moving forward, Kevin hopes to strengthen the organization by focusing its efforts on promotion and education for early-stage startups.

There was also some exciting media coverage for our startup ecosystem. Over the course of the week, Pitchbook reported a 35% year-over-year jump in pre-money valuations for the entire Midwest region. Cincinnati specifically was called out in DataFox as number 7 of 10 U.S. cities that are great for tech grads and WalletHub ranked the Queen City 17th for STEM careers.

General Nano had big some big news this week too. The carbon nanotube manufacture (CNT) announced its CNTs will be going to space in 2018 on a NASA satellite mission. So that’s pretty awesome.

We also found out that Steve Caldwell has a possible side career as a rapper thanks to his appearance on Todd Uterstaedt’s podcast From Founder to CEO.

There was plenty more exciting things that happened this week so take a spin through the deck to see them all!
