This past Friday, February 20th I had the chance to be a keynote speaker at INTERalliance’s TechOlympics Expo 2015. Helping develop and foster startup talent in the Cincinnati region is one of the primary goals of Cintrifuse. Our participation in the TechOlympics was the perfect occasion to speak about the opportunities available as either founders or employees of a startup.
After my presentation, I participated as a judge for the Startup Creation Challenge. Under a tight time constraint, we challenged the student teams to develop a creative, unique startup. Their startups had to fit in one of three broad topics:
• Solving everyday problems
• Technology in developing countries
• Educating the next generation
It was amazing to see all the great ideas the teams came up with in only two hours. To see the stream of the presentation, click here.
I was joined by Christina Swift, Talent Resource Specialist at Cintrifuse. After the presentation, she helped out in two breakout sessions. The first gave students valuable insight into what startups look for in potential employees. The second session, was an awesome web challenge where students had to develop a homepage from a simple prompt and some images.
Events like the TechOlympics are pivotal for developing and retaining local Cincinnati talent. It was amazing to see 500 plus students from dozens of local high schools come together because of a shared passion for technology. On behalf of Cintrifuse, I want to thank the TechOlympics for letting us participate in such a great event!
