July 21, 2016 was quite a day for StartupCincy. Our ecosystem hosted the second annual NewCo Cincy and it was an amazing day. Over 90 host companies opened their doors and welcomed over 900 people from Cincinnati’s business community into their spaces.
There were plenty of exciting sessions. Everything from the creative presentations like The Art Academy to data sessions like the City of Cincinnati’s panel on its open data initiative.
Overall, it was a big day for our ecosystem – BigCos, startups, entrepreneurs, universities and the creative class – to come together and celebrate innovation, creativity and the movement that’s reinventing Cincinnati.
A lot has changed in our ecosystem over the past year. We built Union Hall, the hub for innovation in Cincinnati and we strengthened StartupCincy, bringing more people, organizations and startups into the fold (also got a pretty cool new logo complete with new tee shirts). And this year’s NewCo was a prime example of that growth. It showed the city and the entire country what our startup ecosystem can do when all our oars are rowing in the same direction.
Now the hard part begins. Keep the momentum going. There were a lot of connections made and relationships forged at the festival this year. Don’t let those fall by the wayside. Follow up and follow through will increase the impact of NewCo and keep StartupCincy growing and rowing in the same direction.
Thanks to everyone for their hard work making NewCo Cincy 2016 a success! There where so many great moments captured throughout the day. Too many to include in one blog post so be sure to check out #NewCoCincy on Twitter. And if you haven’t already, check out the excellent write up Soapbox did for the event.
